I’ll like to start by saying, God is sufficient and He takes control, absolutely.
Storytime: It was December and we were just about going on break for the year, I think that was the last day I was going to the office.
Mardiyah my baby girl was around for the holiday.
Little distraction, this girl attached a side note while sending my birthday mail that she’s my best lady in advance o, lol.
Back to the story: I woke up suddenly, you know that feeling that you have been sleeping for long, and I wanted to check the time hopefully I haven’t overslept, I didn’t see my phone by my side, sweet girl plugged it in for me. Social medium people say this is a love language, LMAO.
I stood up and picked up my phone and saw it was still early and not even time for solah so I thought to observe nawafeeh, (obligatory prayer), and this sudden stomach ache started, I have never felt such a complicated stomach ache, in fact, my menstrual cramps comes with abdominal and waist pain so it was different.
I entered the bathroom, made ablution, and picked up my hijab, and all these times, the pain was getting intense, what did I eat last night, well, I still didn’t give up, I started praying, and in between it worsened and I could barely stand up straight, I finished my prayer, I could have cut it short, but God knows mehn coz I couldn’t explain the stubbornness to finish it.
Usually, I’ll seat on my prayer mat, balancing to my right, and make supplications but immediately I stood up to enter the restroom. In this process, lol I found myself saying with fear, in Arabic, “We belong to Allah and Him we shall return”. (Al-Baqarah, 156)
At that moment, Mardhi woke up and said what was it, I saw a very big scorpion laying exactly where I would have sat, I still can remember how scared and thankful I was. My friend without hesitating picked up a slipper and killed it. Oh my God! I could have sat on it.
I could have gotten stung, was that why my stomach ache so I would use the restroom, I still tried using the restroom coz the pain continued but couldn’t do anything. Laid on the bed and after some time, slowly the pain relieved me.
To be very honest, I saw God’s intervention clearly in what happened. That type of stomach pain I have never felt, He was protecting his servant.
Recently, that incident continues to replay and I know it’s a sign to share it.
I am not a saint but I am a living witness of Allah’s protection and mercy, whatever you believe in, I want you to know there’s a God above us and He sees. I pray we always find His mercy, help, protection, and guidance.
This is very personal and whenever I cross your mind, please make duas for me, it’ll mean a lot.
Let me know if you have a similar story of God intervening in a situation, ill be reading it in the comment section.
Till my next newsletter.
