I once thought my talent is singing and dancing while in secondary school, after a pep talk we had, lol I was playing.
When I resigned from my previous job, I was desperate, yeah that was the word, for a new job, Deciding between going to Lagos, or Ilorin or waiting to see if something came out of Abuja.
At first, my friends only sent me media-related job roles because they assumed I was only looking out for Radio, TV, or media jobs, then I said no o, abeg I am versatile, I also have an interest in working in a corporate organization and wanted to, in fact, give it a trial to see if I’ll enjoy it this time.
On this particular day, my cousin sent me a screenshot and asked that I send my cv, There was a vacancy at an organization and she thinks I fit in.
She saw the job opening in a women’s group she belonged, She Code Africa. I’m a member now sha.
After a series of interviews, I got the job.
The first few months, it was a struggle and I started asking myself if I was really on the right path.
So now, remember the last newsletter, I mentioned a Twitter thread I came across.
Doing something for passion is like breathing, you’re excited, and you don’t see your job as actual work, it flows easily.
The thread really helped me and I started doing things that I enjoy while on my job, like voiceovers, filming videos, etc.
Getting better at my skills and looking for better opportunities.
Not all that glitters is gold.
When you see people in some job positions, all dripping and happy, please resist the envy feeling.
No one, absolutely no one has it perfect.
While in Ilorin, I so much enjoyed my radio job and once mentioned I was earning, 30k, bro, how do I cope? My colleague and I called it a side hustle then, lol
So either you find passion in what you’re currently doing till you’re financially ready enough to pursue your dreams and passion.
Or, you money you’re earning is enough inspiration and you continue to grow in it or if lucky, you have both.
My prayer is, wherever field you find yourself, I hope your bosses are nice, the working environment is pleasant and you grow as much as you want to the highest peak of your career.
Tip: Wondering what you’re best at or what your talent or passion is?
Whatever you find easy to do, whether, it is listening, organizing, cooking, talking, etc
That’s where your gift lies.
Build on it, love talking, moderating, hosting, voiceovers, etc areas you can explore.
Love organizing, you can open a decluttering company, etc.
My voice has earned me money I couldn’t have believed when I was wondering what my gift was.
Developing it is the main thing, not the discovery.
Let me know in the comment section what you find easy to do.

At the moment, my passion and interests are constantly changing but what has been constant so far is the love for helping out in the community which I enjoy through my volunteering work. I thoroughly enjoy working on plants too though and I am threading that path
